Women’s badminton was summoned this past weekend to compete in the Iberdrola Club Cup, where 12 teams from all over Spain traveled there, including Club Atlhos from Ourense.
Ourenses came with high expectations, aware of the work done over the weeks to give the best level. And so, after tough clashes and last-minute injuries, they garnered a creditable eighth place.
After finishing second in the group by beating the top-seeded Club Badminton Granollers 4-1, the Ourenses lost to IES La Orden 1-4 to finally fall to the host team, CB Oviedo 3-1. It was on Sunday, when they fought for seventh or eighth place, falling in a tight 3-1 dispute against CB San Fernando Valencia.
But, the most positive note was put by Ana Nóvoa, the U-17 player won the award for best player in her category.
