Adrian Mannarino stopped in the quarterfinals at the Astana Open

Adrian Mannarino feels good in the capital of Kazakhstan. Two years ago, he had already reached the final of the Astana Open. This year, in a tournament that went from the ATP 250 category to the ATP 500 category due to Beijing’s withdrawal due to Covid, the Frenchman stopped in the quarter-finals.

Opposed to Andrey Rublev, seeded n°5, Mannarino could not do anything. If the first games were balanced, he conceded a first break (3-1) while leading 40-15. This is the moment chosen by Rublev to let go of the horses and take advantage of his forehand power. A second break, white, saw him break away 5-1. He finished the set without any problem on his serve.

Handicapped on his face-off which posed no problem for his opponent (only 44% of points behind his first ball), the Frenchman could not return to the game. A quick break from Rublev allowed him to manage the second set without needing to overdo it.

Embarrassed in the right knee, Mannarino could only see the superiority of his opponent. The Russian will play the winner of the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkacz in the semi-finals.
