A capacity of more than 1,000 spectators for the hall

The Regional Council visited the future sports hall of Chambly, in the ZAE des Pointes. This giant facility will host international badminton teams during the Olympics.

It is more than just a sports hall which is currently under construction in the ZAE des Pointes, on the site of the former Schmolz factory. Planned to host the Chambly badminton club, seven-time French champion and reigning European vice-champion, it will also be a rear base for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the city of Chambly being labeled Terre de Jeux for several disciplines. .

Built on the site of a former industrial wasteland of 1.16 hectares, near the large Plaine des Sports car park (also with an internal car park with 46 spaces for its users), this equipment of nearly 6,000 m² will be up to standard. national and international for badminton. It will be able to accommodate between 1,000 and 1,300 spectators depending on the case. After the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, during which the sports hall will be able to welcome very high-level foreign delegations for their training, including possibly Indonesia, which came to visit the site at the end of 2021, this new setting will therefore become that of the Badminton Club. Chambly Oise, which now has in its ranks the double medalist at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, Lucas Mazur.

This future sports hall will contain up to 9 pitches in training mode, and up to 5 in competition mode. It will be supplemented by a warm-up room with three courts, more than 6 meters high, and two outdoor air-badminton courts. Other sports disciplines can be practiced there, particularly in the field of martial arts.

The equipment will benefit from large changing rooms with showers, a catering area, offices, meeting rooms, and, in addition to large bleachers for the spectators, VIP rooms on the first floor and also, on the second floor, a space fitness and well-being (weight training, sauna, hammam, etc.). The sports hall has also been designed for multimodal use allowing major sporting or cultural events, or to be rented for commercial events (trade shows, congresses, fairs, etc.), with even the possibility of bringing trucks of equipment inside. .

Built according to a High Environmental Quality label, with 2,500 m3 of concrete using recycled waste, this room will be equipped with a biomass boiler fueled by pellets supplied by a company in the region.

Remember that the construction of the hall (with the cost of the demolition of the previous industrial building) amounts to just over 14 million euros, being financed up to 50% by the Hauts-de-France Region, whose vice-president in charge of sports, Florence Bariseau, visited the site with the mayor, David Lazarus, last Friday. With other subsidies, notably from the Department, approximately 20% of the total cost will be borne by the city of Chambly.

The structural work began on January 31, 2022 and the delivery of this hall is scheduled for June 2023.
