Founder of Football Institute Budi Setiawan conveyed the names of three strong candidates for the General Chair PSSI replacement Mochamad Iriawan or Ivan Bule.
He said RI SOE Minister Erick Thohir was at the top of the list of the strongest candidates to lead PSSI. According to him, Erick already has long experience in football as a club official.
“First ET [Erick Thohir], although he has never been active in PSSI directly, but who doesn’t know him. ET build brand Indonesia through the Inter Milan club,” said Budi in Jakarta, Monday (31/10).
According to him, Erick’s work in sports has touched a world level. This reflects on Erick’s role as an official on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and leading Premier League club Oxford United.
“Together with Anindya Bakrie, he bought Oxford United in England. He became an Indonesian ambassador who popularized abroad. Moreover, he was on the IOC board, he knew the FIFA President firsthand,” said Budi.
“This is what I think is a big capital for ET to go forward as chairman. Because whoever the chairman is, like it or not, you have to get to know the FIFA president, directly without intermediaries,” he added.
The second name on the list of strong candidates is Hary Tanoesoedibjo. According to Budi, Hary’s role in the leadership of the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI) is sufficient provision to manage PSSI.
“Both HTs have been in the futsal federation for a long time as chairman for two terms. Many futsal achievements were obtained during his leadership period,” he said.
The third name that according to Budi deserves to be the General Chair of PSSI is the President of Madura United, Achsanul Qosasi. According to him, Achsanul has sufficient flying hours to lead PSSI.
“The three AQs have been in the world of football for a long time, leading Madura United from zero to now on autopilot. So from experience, flying hours, abilities are not in doubt. It’s just a matter of how he is accepted or not among his friends in this case. Exco PSSI,” said Budi.
