14 sports from San Salvador 2023 will have a ticket to the Pan American Games

In recent months, the Organizing Committee of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 (COSSAN2023) has taken important steps to launch the regional fair, which will take place from June 23 to July 8 next year.

It was recently learned that, according to the respective Santiago 2023 Pan American Games Qualification System Manual, 14 sports disciplines to be held in San Salvador 2023 will award tickets to the continental fair.

These are: Shooting sports (female and male places), artistic swimming (team and duets), open water (female and male), water polo (male and female champion), sailing (female, male and mixed), bowling (female and male), archery (female and male), athletics (champion of each event), handball (female and male teams), baseball (champion), MTB cycling (female and male), equestrian (dressage, all-around and jumping) , hockey 5 (men’s and women’s champion and runner-up) and triathlon (mixed).

The Pan American Games will take place in Santiago de Chile, from October 20 to November 5, 2023.

On the other hand, the competition program to be held in San Salvador was also confirmed, which includes 32 sports disciplines and will open with weightlifting competitions (June 23-27), speed skating (June 23-26, June) and indoor volleyball (June 23 to 30).

Then swimming (June 24-29), artistic swimming (June 24-28), women’s basketball (June 24-28), women’s handball (June 24-29), rowing (June 24-28 ), surfing (June 24-29), table tennis (June 24-29), sailing (June 24-July 1) and beach volleyball (June 24-27).

Later it will be the turn of chess (June 25 to 29), badminton (June 25 to 30), baseball (June 25 to July 1), MBT cycling (June 25), bodybuilding (June 25), gymnastics Artistic (June 25-29), Netball (June 25-29), Rugby 7 (June 25-27), Men’s Softball (June 25-28), Shooting (June 25-July 4), football (June 26 to July 5) and wrestling (June 26 to 28).

Track cycling (June 27 to July 1), bowling (June 28 to July 4), 3×3 basketball (June 30 to July 2), boxing (June 30 to July 6), BMX (June 30), Diving (July 1-6), Water Polo (July 1-7), Men’s Basketball (July 1-5), Tennis (July 1-7), Men’s Handball (July 2-7), Fencing (July 2-7), Beach Soccer (July 2-7), Rhythmic Gymnastics (July 2-4), Archery (July 2-6), Track and Field (July 2-8), Golf (July 4-7), Judo (July 4-7), Girls’ Softball (July 4-7), Open Water (July 5-7), Road Cycling (July 5 to 7), trampoline gymnastics (July 5 to 7), karate do (July 5 to 7), triathlon (July 5 to 7).

While in the sub-venue in the Dominican Republic, equestrian, canoeing, field hockey, taekwondo, modern pentathlon, racquetball and shotgun competitions will be held.

CCS and DTI visits

Different commissions from Centro Caribe Sports (CCS) have also arrived in the country to verify the progress of the organization of the sports fair and advise members of COSSAN2023 in order to fine-tune important aspects of the event.

The CCS Medical Commission, made up of doctors Hans Larsen and Milton Pineda and Karla Lecona from the CCS staff, visited Salvadoran territory to meet with the general director of the Games, Dinora Acevedo; For COSSAN2023, the following participated in this meeting: Rafael Morales, Juan José Gómez and Carlos Rodríguez; and for FOSALUD, Roberto Gavidia.

During its stay in El Salvador, the commission held several meetings with medical personnel from COSSAN2023, Zacamil Hospital and the University of El Salvador, where the Villa Deportiva will be. Among the topics they addressed were: the medical and anti-doping components that must be considered before and during the development of the sports event.

The Cuban René Romero, Julio Gómez, Víctor Vargas, Bernardo Mesa, members of the Technical Commission of Centro Caribe Sports (CCS), also visited the country to make a preliminary diagnosis and talk about the key dates of the Master Plan of the organization of the fair.

So far, and within the COSSAN2023 work plan, 34 international technical delegates have been visited to review the sports venues that will host the 43 different events during the regional and Caribbean fair.

Infrastructure

On the other hand, the president of COSSAN2023, Yamil Bukele, supervised a couple of weeks ago the interventions that take place in the main sports venues that will host the competitions of the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Bukele visited the Saturnino Bengoa Ball Park, the Ciudad Merliot Sports Complex, the Jorge “El Mágico” González National Stadium, the Flor Blanca Sports Complex, the El Polvorín Sports Complex and the Pablo Arnoldo Guzmán softball stadium, verifying the progress in the intervention works.

“We are in time and form, despite the rains. The construction companies have reiterated their commitments and continue with their work to deliver the facilities on time,” said Bukele after visiting the stages.
