Zverev is injured again and will not play Davis

Pitcher of cold water for the Germany team and for the world of tennis a few hours before the start of their participation in the group stage of the Davis Cup in Hamburg. In the press conference prior to the start of the competition, Alexander Zverev, the great asset of the Teutonic team, announced that he will not compete due to an injury.

Zverev, who has already recovered from the torn ankle ligaments that occurred during the Roland Garros semifinals against Rafa Nadal, assured at a press conference that he is now facing edema in a bone that could keep him out for weeks or months. “I have an edema in a bone that causes me a lot of pain. He may be out for weeks or months, not days.”

In this way Zverev sees his dream of playing the Davis Cup in his native Hamburg frustrated, although he confirmed that he will support the team from the bench. “Playing the Davis Cup in Hamburg, my hometown, was my big goal and what has kept me motivated in recent times. That that dream has been broken now makes me very sad. I have tried everything to be here, but these new pains force me not to play. I will stay in Hamburg and support the team from the bench.”
