Weak performance at the second division!
Werder’s B-Elf loses the test in the international break 0:2 in Hanover. Bremen were superior in field, but didn’t use their chances to score. Oliver Burke and Jens Stage missed several promising deals. Spectators were not allowed.
Coach Ole Werner, despite the bankruptcy, with a positive conclusion: “I’m satisfied with the performance. All the boys persevered, everyone was able to complete their playing time as planned. The result does not match the performance.”

Bremen started without nine seeded players. Jiri Pavlenka, Milos Veljkovic, Marco Friedl, Ilia Gruev and Romano Schmid are on the national teams. Other regulars like Mitch Weiser, Tony Jung and Marvin Ducksch were initially on the bench, Niclas Füllkrug was rested. In return, the Werder reservists were given a chance to show themselves. U23 defender Tim-Justin Dietrich (19) was in the starting XI.
For It was Niklas Stark’s dress rehearsal before his possible starting XI debut in the Bundesliga against Mönchengladbach (2 October, 6.30 p.m.). Stark stood defensively, won many duels and repeatedly won the ball. He was not to blame for the goals he conceded.
The problem this time was the weak conversion of chances.
“The consistency in the opposing penalty area was not good. That’s the only thing that wasn’t at the level we need,” says Werner.
That made 96-Joker Nicolo Tresoldi (18) better. With his brace (54th/81st), he caused Werder’s test bankruptcy.
How Werder played: Zetterer – Stark, Pieper (60th tall), Dietrich (60th young) – Agu (60th Ducksch), Rapp, Buchanan – Schmidt, Stage – Burke, Dinkci (46th Goller).
