Explosive statement from Werder’s stadium announcer

Thick air at Werder!

Stadium announcer Christian Stoll (62) has been on duty at the Weser Stadium since 1996, and now it’s over. A dropout in the last home game against Augsburg (0:1) was the last straw for the club.

Werder fires their stadium announcer! And he reacts pissed off

Stoll in an emotional personal statement: “I made no excuses and admitted my mistake. I couldn’t do more. Nevertheless, I was chased from the farm from one moment to the next. My pride in being part of the Werder family is offended and my personal honor as a person is hurt.”

After the defeat, Stoll attacked referee Petersen and Augsburg’s managing director Stefan Reuter, which displeased the club. In addition, he is said to have violated his duty to have a de-escalating effect on the audience during the game.

Stoll: “I told the referee he’d rather whistle the district league, the member of the management of the Augsburger that he had a group of unsympathetic people at the start. In the meantime, I have of course apologized in writing to both gentlemen.”

According to Stoll, the club’s management informed him that his behavior did not match the club’s values.

The stadium announcer suspects a different motive with his part-time job as an opinionated columnist for a local newspaper: “I don’t believe the management of the SVW that my faux pas against Augsburg is the real reason for this bitter end. Recently there have been disputes on various topics.

Several attempts by the management to talk to Stoll (who will still be paid until the end of the year) are said to have been unsuccessful. When asked by BILD, Werder did not want to comment on Stoll’s statements.
