Water polosters thunder through to the semi-finals at the European Championship with a resounding victory

The Dutch water polo players have convincingly qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship in Split, Croatia. France was sidelined with a whopping 22-3.

Simone van der Kraats opened the score for the Netherlands early on, via Fleur Bosveld and again Van der Kraats led the Orange 3-0 after the first quarter.

Compared to that overwhelming group stage, a meager score for the top favorite for the title. At the start of the game, France offered a lot of resistance and managed to come to 3-1 in the second quarter.

resounding victories

However, that did not yield much for the French, the Netherlands stepped up a gear and brought the score to 7-1. The French Juliet Dhalluin made it 8-2 with her second goal in the match.

The team of coach Evangelos Doudesis was never in real danger. Just like in the group stage, with resounding victories over Croatia (22-6), Greece (13-8) and Romania (28-0), the Orange squad did not give a damn about its opponent this time.

Confidence radiated from the Orange, in the third quarter France was no longer involved and the water polosters scored happily.

In the last quarter, France poked another one, bringing the score to 3, but there was nothing more to say against those 22 goals from Orange.
