“CSI: NY” on TV: That’s what “Changing Sides” is about

Gilbert Novotny, a Boston Red Sox fan, dies after his team’s game and dies behind the wheel of his car. A little later, the young sports agent Margo Trent is wandering through the city in her nightgown and is run over by a truck. Mac and his team chime in and quickly discover that the two cases are connected: a baseball found in Novotny’s car has Margo Trent’s hair stuck to it. Novotny’s autopsy reveals that an object thrown hard at close range – believed to be a baseball – caused fatal internal bleeding. On the stadium’s security cameras, up-and-coming baseball star Ruben DeRosa can be spotted standing squarely between Novotny and Margo. A DNA comparison reveals that he was involved in baseball as well as staying at Margo’s apartment. Convinced by this evidence, DeRosa spills the beans: Because Novotny kissed his mouth in front of everyone for the joy of winning the game, he saw red and threw his baseball at him with rage. But why did Margo have to die too? Construction worker Quinn Sullivan is on trial for murder because his genetic fingerprint was on the murder weapon, a hammer. Mac wants to testify for the prosecution, but then Sullivan confesses what he has been hiding so as not to incriminate himself: The hammer belongs to him – which explains his genetic fingerprint on it. Mac therefore wants to reopen the case, but prosecutor Latham refuses. Mac then takes the consequences and takes the stand for the defense. (Source: Vox, transmitted by FUNKE program magazines)
