VIDEO: a Latvian gets to upset one of the leaders of the Slovenian basketball team at the European Championship

In recent days, social networks have not lacked sharp criticism of Lukas Doncic’s unsportsmanlike behavior – simulating, constantly talking to the referees and trying to prove his rightness and provoking opponents, however, this did not prevent the Slovenians from convincingly securing a place in perhaps the strongest subgroups (France, Germany, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary) in the playoffs.

The victories over Lithuania, Hungary and Germany did not come easily for the Slovenians, and they also lost to the Bosnians. The success against Lithuania was won in a scandalous match, thanks to some favorable whistles, but the game against Germany started badly and the Latvian referee Mārtiņš Kozlovskis was also involved in it all.

It only took a few seconds for Slovenian-naturalized American center Mike Toby, one of the team’s leading players, to suffer a brilliantly stupid injury. The 27-year-old “Barcelona” newcomer jumped on the leg of Kozlovski from Liepāja and sprained his ankle after a throw from the center.

Toby was immediately forced to leave the court and go to the locker room, however, he returned to the court a few minutes later and helped the home team Germans to their first loss in the championship, finishing with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Toby suggested after the game that the referee (Kozlowski) had been too close to him for too long after the throw. He did not hide that his leg hurt and it was difficult to jump, but in such an important match he had to go on the field and help the team. The basketball player was also aware that the next day it would be even worse and his participation in the game against France, where the winner of the subgroup will be determined, was under a big question signs.

This is what happened, because in the duel against France, the leading Slovenian tall player did not go on the field, but this did not prevent Doncic from showing another masterpiece on the basketball court. 47 points and success against France with 88:82.
