Wolfsburg “After the turbulent days we need some rest. We have to pay a little attention to the speed,” said Wolfsburg’s head of sport, Olaf Rebbe, of the German Press Agency.

With regard to possible transfer candidates such as Luiz Gustavo, Ricardo Rodriguez, Carlos Ascues, Vieirinha or Koen Casteels, he said: “We have no sales lists.” The “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” had reported that Gustavo would also receive clearance in winter, while Rodriguez and Casteels should stay. “This is speculation, we do not participate in it. Training starts on January 3rd, only then will I talk to the trainer more intensively about possible personal details, ”said Rebbe.

The 38-year-old former assistant to the former sports director Klaus Allofs took over managerial responsibility until further notice after his departure in mid-December. Only on Christmas Eve did VfL announce the sale of Draxler to Paris St. Germain for at least 42 million euros. According to the Rebbe, it is “completely open” whether at least part of this sum will be used for a new offensive player.
