VfL Bochum: Club leadership discusses Reis future – decision postponed

After the sixth defeat in the sixth game, the board of VfL Bochum is advising on how to proceed – also with a view to Thomas Reis.

Crisis meeting at VfL Bochum. According to consistent media reports, the board of directors of the bottom team with no points met on Sunday to analyze the current situation.

The sporting leadership sat together until late in the evening. However, a decision is no longer expected to be announced on Sunday. The answer to the trainer question was postponed to Monday.

Up for discussion is whether coach Thomas Reis is expected to turn around with the team. He himself said after the 1: 3 derby defeat against Schalke: “I saw a team that follows me and I would only worry if I didn’t see it anymore.” However, he also added that he cannot influence what happens now.

VfL Bochum: Reis’ future is questionable

That is in the hands of Fabian, financial director Ilja Kaenzig and supervisory board boss Hans-Peter Villis. Next up is the home game against 1. FC Köln (Sunday, September 18, 5:30 p.m.). A new coach would have the opportunity to set new impulses during the week. Postponing the decision to after the game could mean that a possible successor would have the game against RB Leipzig in front of their chest first – a thankless start for a turnaround.

Option three: Those responsible express their confidence in Reis at least until the early winter break in November and go into the upcoming games with the 48-year-old. Bochum have not had a chance in previous games, and the team and fans still seem to be behind the coach. Simon Zoller and Philipp Hofmann, among others, made that clear after the Revierderby.
