Foppe de Haan worked at SC Heerenveen together with Ruud van Nistelrooij, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Marcus Allbäck, among others. At the moment, Amin Sarr and Sydney van Hooijdonk have to take care of the goals.

“He still has a lot to learn, but with his nose to the goal I think he’s very good. Then he is strong, fast and he can shoot out of nowhere”, the former trainer refers to in conversation with The Telegraph on Sarr. Incidentally, De Haan still sees room for improvement. “Sarr must dare to stay away. Not even half to get that ball, but really stay away.”

“Van Hooijdonk scores goals that I think are: Wow. Not many have that, that feeling between the penalty spot and the goal,” continues De Haan. “But he has to stay on his feet a bit stronger and develop some ball feeling for outside the box in his rebounds. He has to sit at home in front of the TV with a tennis ball between his feet. Igor Korneev always did. Then he was in front of the TV doing some quick footwork.”
