U-11 and U-13 table tennis tournament continues this Monday by teams

SANTO DOMINGO. The third round of the group phase of the U-11 and U-13 Table Tennis Championships will define this Monday the direct confrontations in the continuation of the contest that is held in the Pavilion of that discipline in the Parque del Este.

Meanwhile, the official opening ceremony, which was scheduled for this Monday at 4:00 in the afternoon, has been postponed due to the possible effects of storm Fiona passing through the country.

This was announced by Dr. Daniel Landrón, president of the Dominican Table Tennis Federation (Fedoteme), who pointed out that the schedule for team competitions continues as normal from 9:00 in the morning.

The president of the Fedoteme said that the contest is dedicated to the president of the Republic, Mr. Luis Abinader, and that at the opening ceremony the medal of merit will be awarded to engineer Magín Díaz, former national team and promoter of national table tennis .

He indicated that the Pan American Championship has the support of the Ministry of Sports, Claro, Creso, Banreservas, Raise, ITTF, OMSA, Central Super Market and the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).

He recalled that the individual champions in both branches in the U-11 category will obtain the right to participate in the “Hopes” camp (for future stars), while the winners in U-13 will receive training scholarships in Specialized Centers.

He explained that the tournament is held in coordination with ITTF Americas and that the participation of more than 225 athletes from 17 countries of the continent is expected.

The contest, which will take place until Saturday the 24th of this month, also includes doubles and singles competitions.
