Tressor Moreno: statements about Néstor Lorenzo, Colombia National Team and Yaser Asprilla | Colombia selection

The Colombian National Team began a new process under the orders of Néstor Lorenzo, who was José Néstor Pékerman’s technical assistant. Because of that background with the national team, he knows the players, and, in fact, in his first call, he had few changes with the idea that he was managing lately.

Except for the inclusion in the list of Andrés Llinás, Jorge Carrascal, Jhon Jáder Durán and Yaser Asprilla, who had already been taken into account by Héctor Cárdenas for the friendly against Saudi Arabia, these were the novelties in Néstor Lorenzo’s call. Once he released the list of 26 players, some names were criticized by public opinion, among them, James Rodríguez who scored against Guatemala.

Another who also scored and proves to be essential for the future of the Colombian National Team was Yaser Asprilla. The youngest player to score a goal with the national team at 18 years and ten months is already starting to slip in Néstor Lorenzo’s system. His goal continues to give something to talk about, and they cover him with praise.

Tressor Moreno spoke on Blu Radio’s Sports Blog about the Colombian National Team, Néstor Lorenzo and one or another player that Lorenzo called for his first two games on the bench. Mexico is waiting, and Tressor, who played in Aztec territory, also gave clues about who they are up against.

In the first instance, he gave an analysis of a Mexico that has several casualties in the process of Gerardo Martino, who has also earned several criticisms prior to the World Cup. Tressor Moreno maintained, “it is going to be a game where Mexico unfortunately cannot have all its figures, who in one way or another have been acting as headlines. It’s a game that Mexico has to try to close well, it’s going to be a game with a high physical level and, therefore, that Colombia can try to impose conditions and try to go from defense to attack in the fewest possible touches”.

He also spoke of the mix between veterans and young blood in this process, “the renewal is progressive, but if he wants to make a fast team he has to try to have at least one team that can give him that between historical and young players. If you want footballers who try to play to the rhythm of Luis Díaz, you are not going to get them in the national team because the national team does not play like that and most players still do not have that idea, so it is even more difficult for them to engage with it situation”.

Specifically, regarding that replacement, he commented, “I think there are players for the replacement. Sinisterra can play very well on the side; Luis Díaz is the player who can have the most imbalance. But you need a good player who is the one who feeds the whole world and the Colombian National Team doesn’t have one right now”. However, James Rodríguez, who should be that player who generates play, said that he should be behind the striker and supply the ball to number ‘9’ there.

He reached Yaser Asprilla, an 18-year-old player with an immense future from which he demarcated his ability to face, and did not hide his great taste for the Chocoano, “he is a player who can have a lot of vertigo who can give many things to the team, but he is a player who needs to mature and the only way is to basically have competition. Yaser is a more creative player, to whom, if you get to put that chip that he has to come and go, he can be an important player at the world level. For the players to have that idea, they have to play, he can’t put them in for 20 or 30 minutes, he has to put them in”.

Finally, he closed by analyzing Néstor Lorenzo, who maintained that he will use a well-marked formation, and usual during his time in the Colombian National Team, “for the 4-3-3 I think that what he wants to do within coach Lorenzo within what he aspires to the national team, but to be a 4-3-3 you need a good player in the midfield and two players on the outside who have their imbalance and who apart from that have an important back and forth. It’s going to be difficult for those players to adopt that position”.
