The German water polo players won their first game at the European Championships in Split, Croatia.
The team of national coach Petar Porobic defeated Slovakia in the first of two placement games with 18:7 (4:1, 6:2, 3:0, 5:4). The best throwers selected by the German Swimming Association were Fynn Schütze, Denis Strelezkij and Lukas Küppers, who each scored three times.
On Tuesday, the newly formed German team will play for places 13 and 14 at the end of the European Championship. So far, eleventh place has been the national team’s worst result at a European Championship.
