Touching: Israeli match mascots hug Lionel Messi | Champions League

The Israeli match mascots – the children who run along with the players – stole the show for Maccabi Haifa-PSG yesterday. Some of them didn’t know where they were when they saw Lionel Messi appear as they walked onto the field. They were off the world for a while and went to hug the Argentine superstar. He happily accepted it all.

The protocol, insofar as there is one, states that the competition mascots should in principle not distract the players from their concentration and should actually limit themselves to walking along. But some didn’t understand it that way.

It is touching to see a boy stunned watching Messi and asking him for a hug. Kylian Mbappé also shares in the hugs, but the attention is mainly focused on Messi.
