TikTok has announced TikTok Now. This means that users of the app are asked to take and share a photo or video at unexpected times. With that, TikTok opens the attack on social media app BeReal.
With TikTok Now, users receive a daily request to take a 10-second video or a static photo. It must be shared on TikTok as soon as possible. With this, TikTok wants to challenge its users to post updates that have not been staged.
TikTok Now is very similar to the social media app BeReal. The app asks users to take and post a photo once a day at the same time as friends. Unlike other social media apps, BeReal would provide less polished photos.
BeReal has become very popular in a short time. In August, the app was used by 15 percent of all Dutch young people.
TikTok is not the first social media network to copy BeReal. Instagram is doing internal testing with a similar feature.
