SC Heerenveen won 2-1 against FC Twente at home on Sunday afternoon. Edward Jorna of the Friesch Dagblad thought it was a shame that there were no more SC Heerenveen supporters to witness the victory. According to the official reports, there were just over 21,000 people, but Jorna saw that in reality there were a lot fewer fans in the Abe Lenstra Stadium.

“The fact that the largest football theater in Fryslân almost never fills up has been the case for years,” Jorna writes in the newspaper. Friesch Dagblad. “Yet this Heerenveen deserves more than a half-full (half-empty) stadium. In the previous home games against Sparta (on Friday evening in the middle of the holiday), Fortuna Sittard (at the impossible start time of Saturday evening 9 p.m.) and NEC (Sunday afternoon 14.30 p.m., but yes competition from the Dutch GP at Zandvoort) there were always reasons to point out.”

“Against FC Twente – slightly better occupied than the three previous home games – those reasons were not there, or it must have been the inclement weather on Sunday or the thoughts of the two scoreless draws against Sparta and NEC,” continues Jorna. “Anyway, against FC Twente, Heerenveen was serious about customer loyalty. What that yields should become clear in three weeks, when Heerenveen receives PSV visits at home.”
