The Story of Robi Darwis’ Struggle with Long Distance Throws

Surabaya, CNN Indonesia

Player Indonesia U-20 National Team Robi Dervish told about the difficulty of the long distance throwing struggle which became one of his specialties.

Robi Darwis’ name soared when he performed brilliantly with the U-20 Indonesian National Team in the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.

Robi is widely discussed because of his ability to play in a number of positions. He has played three positions with the U-20 Indonesia National Team during the U-20 2023 Asian Cup Qualification, namely centre-back, central midfielder, and right wing.

In addition, Robi is also increasingly recognized for his ability to throw in long distances such as Pratama Arhan. In fact, he was able to record one assist through a throw-in in the U-20 Asian Cup Qualification for Rabbani Tasnim’s header goal against Indonesia against Timor Leste.

However, Robi Darwis admits that it is not easy to carry out his duties as the executor of this free kick.

“Of course you must be tired of having to focus on defending and helping attack. Especially in this throw-in, it’s not easy because [habis melakukan lemparan di area lawan] I have to immediately focus on defense, and I also have to be ready to defend or attack quickly,” said the Persib Bandung player.

However, the player who was born in Cianjur, August 2, 2003, did not complain even though he constantly had to exert his hand muscles in executing throw-ins for the U-20 Indonesian National Team.

“It’s used to and not too tiring, this is because defending the country has to be more than 100 percent fighting for Indonesia,” said the player who plays the original defensive midfielder.

Robi also admitted that he was very grateful and touched to be able to bring Indonesia to qualify for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup. Indonesia managed to qualify for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup after winning Group F after successfully sweeping three matches with a win.

In the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification, Indonesia successfully defeated Timor Leste 4-0, Hong Kong 5-1, and beat Vietnam 3-2 in the last match on Sunday (18/9).

“For today’s match results [18/9] I want to say thank you, Alhamdulillah. I thank the coach for giving me the opportunity. I also play more and can help the team to win. Alhamdulillah, for tonight we can win 3-2 over Vietnam,” said Robi.
