The sports ground of the Public Primary School of Hevié Adovié hosted, on Saturday September 17, 2022, the first edition of the five baseball tournament. An initiative of the Omnisports Game Association which aims to promote baseball in Benin.
On arrival, it was the young team of Scorpions de Sékou who took over their counterpart from Game Time de Hevié (18-07). A victory that delighted the captain of this formation, Wilfried Gouvoekpon. “We are very happy with this victory. We prepared for this competition by working and the work paid off,” he said. Yankees d’Ifangni finished third in the competition by atomizing Far West de Hevié (21-01). For the promoter of this tournament Bachiratou Adom, the objective of the competition has been achieved. “The objective in organizing this competition was to bring together sports associations around baseball at the level of the Arrondissement of Hevié in order to popularize the discipline”, she said. According to him, the children showed good baseball. “We noticed that the level was good and also, we had curious people who came to discover the discipline,” she said. Of the nine clubs invited to this competition, only 4 were able to answer the call. This did not prevent the holding of this tournament which had the support of the National Fund for the Development of Youth Activities, Sports and Recreation (Fndajsl).
