“The chance to have had a small stroke”, Audrey Cordon-Ragot talks about the reasons for her package for the Worlds

Hard blow for the Habs. Audrey Cordon-Ragot will not participate in the World Cycling Championships in Wollongong, Australia from September 18 to 25. In a press release published this Saturday on her Instagram account, the Trek-Segafredo team rider said she had suffered a stroke. She was replaced by Jade Wiel (FDJ-SUEZ-Futuroscope) for the road race event, scheduled for September 24.

“Life always has surprises in store for you and this week more than ever, I learned that it is much more important than all the rest”, announced the 32-year-old Breton woman before detailing: “My absence for the next Championships of the world, which many people have allowed themselves to qualify as whims, fear of losing, non-respect of the French team… and so on, is due to a stroke, of which I suffered, last Sunday. »

The cyclist also explains that this cerebrovascular accident was not “detected immediately” and that the MRI “saved her life”. “I will observe a period of rest and undergo an operation to resolve the cardiac problem at the origin of my accident,” she adds.

“The word AVC is very scary”

“I feel tired as we are after an accident like this, I’m in the dark and I’m waiting for more information”, told us Audrey Cordon-Ragot before developing: “The word AVC is very fear. I was lucky to have had a small stroke, if I can call it that, and to have been taken care of in time. I consider myself very lucky today”.

The one who did the double time trial / road race during the French Championships in Cholet (from June 23 to 25) also explained the circumstances of her discovery: “I felt unwell last Sunday, I I felt very ill when I got up and was taken to the emergency room by the SAMU. I went out on Sunday evening, without any explanation. And it was after that that the French Cycling Federation insisted that I do this MRI before leaving for Australia, because they didn’t want me to take any risks. That’s where I saw the incident. “For the time being, she does not “know what will happen for the rest of her career”.
