Aliona Bolsova (Chisinau, 1997) is the only Spaniard remaining in the individual draw of the ITF 60 tournament, which is being held until Sunday at the Real Club Tenis de San Sebastián. The number 189 in the WTA ranking defeated Guiomar Maristany (2-6, 7-6 and 6-3) this Thursday in the match that closed the day to reach the quarterfinals.

The tennis player of Moldovan origin confirmed that she has returned to her rights and that she is in the game. She comes from winning an ITF60 on clay four years later, in Serbia, and this Thursday, in a tough, rough match, she closed the way to Maristany from Barcelona. Bolsova arrived in Palafrugell at the age of three along with her parents Vadim and Olga, both athletes (he hurdler, she jumper) and participants in the 1992 Games.

In the rest of the round of 16 match, Bouzas Maneiro lost in two sets (7-6, 6-2) and Cortez Llorca made it very difficult for the favorite to win the tournament, the Czech Fruhvirtova, but she also ended up giving in (6 -3, 7-6).

For this Friday, starting at 11 am, four individual quarterfinal matches are scheduled. Grabher and Zavastka and Ormaechea-Serban face each other today (11 a.m.) at the top of the draw (not before 5 p.m.), while on the other side they face each other in search of two places in the semifinals Vedder-Fruhvirtova (11 a.m. ) and Bolsova will challenge Schunk (not before 2:00 p.m.).

Once again, it is very possible that these matches will be played indoors because the rain and wind continue without respite in this first edition. The only consolation that remains is that tomorrow and the day after the sun is expected to rise and that the semifinals and finals – singles and doubles draw – can be played on the center court with full stands.

In the doubles tournament the semifinals are already set. Gamiz-Vedder will face Fita Boluda-Maristany and Bolsova-Zavatska will face Bouzas Maneiro-Romero Gormaz. This last couple was the one that left the Aranzabal-Idiakez team from San Sebastian out of the tournament this Thursday by 6-1 and 6-2.
