The coach of Telecable Gijón Ramón Peralta was right when he stated that Fraga had formed a squad that was going to give quite a few surprises this season, especially on their pitch. The recent champions of the Spanish Super Cup could not get past the goalless draw, a very unusual circumstance in roller hockey, against a rival who defended very well and with order and who prevented the offensive actions of the Gijón women.
Peralta’s team went through a few moments of danger before the break, when the referee showed two almost consecutive blue cards, first to Rebeca González and then to Nuria Almeida, which left Telecable four minutes behind and also with an option in the first of the cards from a direct shot that was very well stopped by Fernanda Hidalgo.
