Successful participation of JC Mifune in Special Olympics

The Hückeswagen athletes competed very successfully in their weight classes of competition class 2 (fighters with minor combat limitations).

A successful sporting outing: The Mifune judo club was represented with six judoka and four supervisors at the ID judo competitions of the Special Olympics in Essen. As Jörg Musaeus reported, the athletes fought very successfully in their weight classes of competition class 2 (fighters with minor combat limitations):

■ bis 100 kg Leo Petersberghe easily won two fights with one point (ippon) and won gold.
■ bis 90 kg Sebastian Ziemskicaught a strong field of participants and was only able to prevail once, after two defeats he took bronze.
■ bis 73 kg Ben Musaeuswho took the gold medal after three wins and also against his clubmate Björn Heisig won. Heisig lost all fights and had to settle for fourth place.
■ bis 66 kg Daniel Mann defeated four out of five opponents. In the final fight he was only defeated by the later overall winner from Leverkusen by half a point (Wazzari) and secured second place and the silver medal. Robin Leisen won three of his five fights, earning bronze.

“The Mifune judoka presented themselves in a very good training condition and fought brilliantly. It was a brilliant success, which the supervisors Jörg Musaeus, Chris Garnetidis as well as Veronika and Eddy Tscheschlog were able to celebrate,” says a press release.
