STY Gives Feedback to Jokowi to Improve Indonesia’s Achievements

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali mention coach Indonesian National team Shin Tae Yong gave some suggestions to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo for the development of Indonesian football.

Amali stated that Jokowi and Shin’s conversation took place in South Korea in a series of working visits to East Asia at the end of July 2022.

“When the President was in Korea, Coach Shin Tae Yong was there and was invited to dinner. Then there was a chat. Then the President was asked what you need the most basicly,” Amali said as quoted by Antara.

The plan to build a soccer training center in the National Capital (IKN) of the archipelago is the result of Shin’s input to Jokowi.

“He [Shin Tae Yong] say Indonesia does not have training camp, so if playing is still riding in the stadiums and waiting for the schedule, it’s not good for coaching. So Mr President [bilang] okay, I’m ready,” said Amali.

“He (President Jokowi) said if there are candidates or other places, please prepare them, but if there are none, there is land in IKN,” he added.

The Minister of Youth and Sports reiterated that both he and the chairman of PSSI positively welcomed the plan to build a soccer training center at IKN Nusantara, because it was one of the weaknesses of soccer coaching in Indonesia.

Menpora claimed to have submitted a letter regarding the design and details of the plan to build a soccer training center through the Presidential Secretariat.

“It’s being considered. Of course, yes, but we’ll just have to wait, because later if it’s okay, it won’t be us, not PSSI, but the Ministry of PUPR,” explained Amali.

According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the letter listed the design of the fields to be built as well as the main arena that might be used as a location for the national team’s matches.

“And possibly the federation office [PSSI] will also be there. Because if we move to IKN, the provisions of the international federation are that the national federation must be in the national capital,” he said.

According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the government will build various sports facilities at IKN Nusantara, both main facilities and complete supporting facilities.

This step was taken in connection with Indonesia’s plan to advance in the nomination to host the 2036 Olympics.
