Steve Ballmer, richest owner of American sport

Who is the richest American professional sports owner? The answer is not in US football or baseball, since it was in the NBA that Forbes found the winner.

With an estimated fortune of $83 billion, Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014, tops the rankings. Steve Ballmer bought the Californian franchise for the modest sum of 2 billion dollars in 2014. There is no doubt that it is already worth at least double that, even if he has no intention of selling it since he is focused on the future move to Inglewood.

Behind him, only Rob Walton, owner of the Denver Broncos in NFL plays almost in the same court with his 56.7 billion dollars of personal fortune.

Two other NBA owners are also in the Top 10: Robert Pera of the Grizzlies (4th with 17.6 billion) and Dan Gilbert (6th with 17.3 billion). The latter also fell from 2nd to 6th place following the loss in value of the shares of his company “Rocket Morgage”.

Mark Cuban appears on his side only in 38th position with a fortune estimated at 4.6 billion dollars.
