Around 1,300 athletes took part in the 53rd edition of the state youth sports festival in the Rhein-Hunsrück district. For some of the participants it was the first major competition, for the Rhein-Hunsrück district it was the first time that it hosted the meeting of young athletes from the country. The competitions mainly took place in Simmern, Kirchberg and Rheinböllen.
