Out of qualifying, Stan Wawrinka, who is currently 284th in the world ranking, created a small sensation this Wednesday afternoon, during the ATP 250 tournament in Metz. He overcame Portuguese Joao Sousa in two sets (7-6, 6-2).
In the second round, the former world number 3 (in 2014) and three-time Grand Slam winner will face the tournament’s number 1 seed, Russian Daniil Medvedev (4th player in the world), who will enter the competition at this occasion.
