Spain celebrates European basketball championship in Madrid

A celebration was organized at the Wizink Sports Hall in Madrid for the Spanish National Basketball Team, which won the 2022 European Men’s Basketball Championship by beating France 88-76 in the final.

While the Spanish fans showed great love to the national basketball players in the hall, which they were filled with, they supported them with “champion” chants.

Addressing the fans, team captain Rudy Fernandez, 37, said: “I want to thank Sergio (head coach) and everyone on this team. We’ve been together for a long time. They made me really enjoy this tournament like a 20 year old.” said.

Sergio Scariolo, the Italian head coach of the Spanish National Team, said: “Do you remember the movie (Don’t lose hope)? Never let someone tell you you can’t do it.” he said.

Willy Hernangomez, who was selected as the most valuable player of the championship, and his brother Juancho Hernangomez, who was the best player of the final, were applauded for a long time by the crowd that filled the hall.

Having fun singing songs with the fans, the basketball players said, “There is a world championship next year.” They emphasized that they are also ambitious for the future.

Spain won the European championship for the 4th time in basketball, after 2009, 2011, 2015.
