On the latest episode of his podcast, “The Big Podcast With Shaq,” Shaquille O’Neal was asked about the worst teammate he’s had in his career. After a moment of reflection, he appointed Dennis Rodman, with whom he briefly played at the Lakers during the 1998-99 season.
“My worst teammate? Dennis Rodman,” Shaq said. “He was a great player, but he made things difficult. Like when you’re trying to bring guys together and the people above you let that guy do whatever he wants. We had to be there an hour before the game. He would arrive fifteen minutes before the game eating chicken and rice. While the coaches were talking, he went to the shower. A cold shower. He would land and bring you 15 to 20 rebounds. »
Signed in February, Rodman was finally cut in April before the start of the playoffs, in question his behavior and numerous incidents. At the Lakers Rodman had played 23 games for 2.1 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 28.6 minutes.
