‘Roger Federer’s reaction was not the same as before,’ says star

Former world number 7 Mardy Fish said he was blessed to have the opportunity to play in the days of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Fish, 40, retired from playing in 2015. During his career, Fish faced Federer nine times. In those nine encounters, Fish has only beaten Federer once.

“It was a blessing to play in the Fed/Nadal/Djok era. Few wins, tons of losses, I enjoyed every minute on the court with you my friend.

See you in retirement,” Fish tweeted. When he first faced Federer at Wimbledon 2003, Fish thought he had a favorable draw. Federer ended up beating Fish 6-3, 6-1, 4 -6, 6-1.

“What are your favorite @rogerfederer moments? I’ll start. 2003 Wimbledon, third round, I’m playing this guy Federer. I called a friend after winning the second round and said, ‘I think I have a good draw now”

I don’t think this guy is that good. He crushed me and won the tournament,” Fish said in another tweet. Five years after his first meeting with Federer, Fish finally got his first victory against the Swiss.

At the 2008 Indian Wells Masters, Fish defeated Federer to reach the tournament final. Meanwhile, Fish will not take part in the Davis Cup group stage this week. Fish, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, has been advised not to participate in this week’s Davis Cup.

After testing positive for COVID-19, Fish contacted Bob Bryan and asked him to act as acting captain. “Mardy said do whatever you want, make whatever decisions you want, and I was there if you wanted to brainstorm,” Bryan said.

King Roger Federer announced his retirement

Uzbek tennis player Denis Istomin acknowledged in comments collected by GoTennis the importance that Roger Federer had in the world of tennis: “Roger had a very long career and great moments.

He is one of the best players of all time. I want to thank him for bringing so many sponsors to this sport. Tennis has become very popular thanks to people like him.

I’m proud to have played with him around the same time. I had the chance to play many games against him (8-0 result against) and each of them was very memorable for me” said Istomin who admitted that he knew Federer’s end was very close: “I played against him last year at Roland Garros.

I felt that Roger Federer was at the end of his career, I noticed that his reaction was not the same as before. Still, he played very well for his age.”
