While the Red Devils were doing everything to keep their one-goal lead in stoppage time against Wales, we witnessed a particularly surprising moment: the exclusion of Roberto Martinez!
The national coach made the game of his men by saving time. As the ball rolled in his direction, Martinez took it in hand and, instead of returning it to the Welsh who had the sideline, seemed to have swung the leather a little further. The match referee did not hesitate long before showing the red card. Result, for the very last minutes, it was Thierry Henry who found himself in the role of coach.
And, direct consequence of this exclusion: Roberto Martinez is suspended for Sunday’s match against the Netherlands in Amsterdam. It will therefore be Thierry Henry who will be on the bench.
