River Plate: Patronato players imitated Miguel Ángel Borja’s celebration | football curiosities

It is no secret to anyone that Miguel Ángel Borja, who was expressly requested by Marcelo Gallardo himself, has not been the forward that was expected in the millionaire ranks. Gallardo is already desperate because the Cordovan former Junior from Barranquilla does not perform as a starter, nor as a substitute when he sees minutes in the league or in the Argentine Cup.

River Plate left a gray presentation in the quarterfinals where they faced Patronato as a visitor. Marcelo Gallardo put a line-up with Miguel Ángel Borja as a substitute, while Juan Fernando Quintero did as a starter, receiving the confidence of his coach. The midfielder was in the 90 minutes, and scored an Olympic goal to end a 70-year drought without the River Plate team scoring from this route.

Juan Fernando Quintero earned praise, as his magic is still intact and physically recovering after playing the 90 minutes of a demanding game. The passage to the semifinals was decided from the penalty spot where Quintero did not disappoint with an excellent execution, goalkeeper for the other side and opening in the shootout that River Plate lost.

On the other hand, Miguel Borja replaced Lucas Beltrán on 61 minutes. He could do little to contribute a goal on the scoreboard, but he did not disappoint in the shots from the penalty spot scoring. The Argentine press gave the Cordovan a 3 out of 10 and wrote about his performance, “a little more presence but without consistency. Safe in the prison”, said Olé.

Once the game with classification for the Board of Trustees semi-finals ended, the players entered the dressing room and between laughter and teasing they celebrated in a very peculiar way. With a dance that Argentines surely remember, they emulated the traditional celebration of Miguel Ángel Borja. A hummingbird dance, celebrating with the Colombian from River Plate.
