RFS footballers beat “Spartak” and catch up with “Riga” team in the tournament table

RFS beat the players of Jūrmala “Spartak” with a score of 3:0 (1:0) at home.

The first dangerous moment was in the 21st minute of the game, when after Kevin Friesenbichler’s kick, the ball hit the guests’ crossbar. Five minutes later, after Friesenbichler’s pass, Denis Rakel put the ball over the opponent’s goalkeeper, who made it 1-0 in favor of the Riga team.

At the beginning of the second half, after a cross in the penalty area, Valentin Zehov headed the ball past the RFS goal. On the other hand, RFS took advantage of their opportunity in the 61st minute, when the visitors played clumsily in their own penalty area and the ball went to Emerson Deusleisan, who scored accurately from close range – 2:0.

Ten minutes later, after Andrejs Iličs shot from distance, the result of the match became 3:0 in favor of the Riga club.

Compared to the match in Florence, RFS kept only three players in the starting line-up – midfielders Stefan Panic and Tomislav Šaric, as well as left back Vladislav Sorokin.

Finnish U-21 midfielder Adams Markhiev returned to “Spartak” after a year on loan in the youth team of the Italian club SPAL.

In the previous league match, the champion RFS fought to a 1:1 draw with its main rival “Riga”, the game ended with a result that was not beneficial for either team, as the advantage of the leader “Valmiera” was not significantly reduced. On Thursday, the Riga players made their debut in the subgroup tournaments of the European club competition and in the UEFA Conference League they fought to a draw 1:1 with the Italian club “Fiorentina”. Scottish team Edinburgh “Hearts” will visit Riga on Thursday.

Today’s victory made it possible to catch up with the “Riga” team, and both clubs from the capital have seven points before Valmieri, which must be played in the last eight rounds of the season.

Jūrmalnieki are winless in five games in a row in the Super League and occupy the last two places with Salaspils “Super Nova” footballers.

In the first match of the season, RFS won 3-2 in an intense battle, but in the next two duels the champions were superior 2-0. In the round of 16 of the Latvian Cup, the team led by Viktor Moroz beat Jūrmalnieki with 4:0.

At the head of the tournament table, “Valmiera” has accumulated 67 points in 28 matches, while “Riga” and “RFS” have 60 points, while “Liepāja” completes the leading four with 54 points. “Auda” is fifth with 44 points, while “Daugavpils” is sixth with 28 points, while “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” have 27 points. “Metta” has 21 points, while Jurmala “Spartaka” and “Super Nova” have 18 points each.
