Remco Evenepoel wins the title of world champion

At the cost of a great solitary effort, the 22-year-old Belgian phenomenon became world champion at the age of 22. He succeeds Julian Alaphilippe.

Phenomenal Remco Evenepoel. At 22, the cycling sensation has already won the best title in the discipline by becoming world champion this Sunday in Wollongong (Australia). Starting alone 25 kilometers from the finish, the Belgian used his qualities as an outstanding rider to race towards the title and thus succeed the reigning double world champion, his teammate at Quick-Step Julian Alaphilippe.

Winner of the Vuelta two weeks earlier, but also of a Monument at the start of the season (Liège-Bastogne-Liège), Evenepoel crowns a little more an exceptional year 2022 on a personal level and thus places him at the top of the hierarchy of the planetary cycling.
