RB Leipzig: Marco Rose starts as a coach: “I’m going to change a few things!” Sports

“Will change some things!” |

First Rose announcement as a Leipzig coach

What BILD announced on Wednesday has been official since Thursday morning: Marco Rose (45) is the new Leipzig coach! Just a day after Domenico Tedesco (36) was fired at RB, the native of Leipzig took over and signed a contract until 2024.

On the inaugural PK he explained: “We need stability. We have to get that through more activity in our game. We need to take things more into our own hands. Even if that’s not an accusation against Domenico. But now I’m sitting here and I’m going to change a few things. I won’t make sure that we don’t concede any goals, but that we attack early on ourselves.”

Leipzig has its dream coach, with a Red Bull past (2x champions, 1x cup win with Salzburg)! But now a real bang start awaits him…

► On Saturday against Dortmund, his former club until May. With BVB, Rose lost twice to Leipzig (1:2, 1:4). BVB parted ways with him at the end of the season. Rose received 5 million euros in compensation.

► On Wednesday at Real Madrid, the defending champions in the Champions League. It doesn’t get any harder.

► On Saturday (September 17) in Gladbach, his next ex-club. He stopped there in 2021 because of his move to Dortmund – and left behind many disappointed fans.

Rose is here! In the afternoon there is the first training (not public). His mission in Leipzig: play attractive offensive football and quickly bring the club back to the Champions League places. After the opening defeat against Donetsk (1: 4), RB also needs a sense of achievement next Wednesday at Real in order not to tick off the round of 16 early on.

In addition to regular assistant and ex-national player Alexander Zickler (48) and ex-Gladbach co Frank Geideck (55), there is also a returnee in his new team. Marco Kurth (44) was only put on leave as a co-worker at RB in January at Tedesco’s request. Under Rose there is now the role backwards. Both have known each other for over 20 years and once played together at VfB Leipzig.
