Quartararo admits Ducati’s toughness in FP1 MotoGP Japan

Motegi

Fabio Quartararo placed third in the free practice session of the MotoGP Japan 2022. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider acknowledged the toughness of Ducati.

Quartararo, who is fighting to defend his MotoGP world title, finished third in the Japanese MotoGP FP1, Friday (23/9). The French rider recorded a time of 1 minute 44.558 seconds.

Quartararo’s notch was 0.049 seconds slower than the Ducati rider, Jack Miller, who controlled the Japanese MotoGP FP1. While in second place is Francesco Bagnaia, who is also 0.021 seconds ahead of Quartararo.

Devouring the Motegi Circuit for 75 minutes, Fabio Quartararo admitted that he had reached the maximum. However, he admits that Ducati is superior in several aspects, so that he is left behind in FP1 MotoGP Japan 2022.

“[Hari] intense, but it’s pretty good. Our speed doesn’t look too bad. But, looking at the margin that others have compared to us, it’s really amazing. Because, I was at the limit since the first lap and our margin is still not too high,” he said, quoted by Crash.

“So it’s actually quite difficult, because in terms of acceleration, and with the device holeshot as well as aerodynamics owned by Ducati, quite difficult. I feel we did our best today and that’s quite okay.”

Victory is needed by Quartararo in the 2022 Japanese MotoGP, after failing to finish in the Aragon MotoGP series last week. The 23-year-old rider fell, which made the difference in points cut by Bagnaia.

Currently, Fabio Quartararo still leads the 2022 MotoGP standings with 211 points, only 10 points ahead of Bagnaia, who ranks second. If it fails again, and Francesco Bagnaia wins, then El Diablo will be overtaken by his rival, with the championship leaving four more series (after the 2022 Japanese MotoGP).
