PSSI Chairman Responds to Shin Tae Yong Often Becomes an Ad Star

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Ahead of the 2nd leg of Indonesia vs Curacao on FIFA Matchday, the General Chairperson of PSSI Mochamad Iriawan comment on activities Shin Tae Yong who is often the star of commercials.

Since being contracted by PSSI to train the Indonesian national team since the end of 2019, Shin Tae Yong has been caught starring in a number of advertisements, both local and foreign products, such as one of the South Korean car brands whose factory is in Bekasi.

However, PSSI is not worried about the South Korean coach’s ‘side job’ outside of being the coach of the Indonesian national team.

In the eyes of Mochamad Iriawan, Shin Tae Yong is a highly respected coach in South Korea in terms of achievement. By becoming an advertisement star, Shin Tae Yong is said to provide benefits to the country’s economy.

So far, according to Iriawan, Shin Tae Yong is the coach of the national team who often starred in many advertisements. That’s because Shin Tae Yon is highly respected in South Korea.

“As is well known, the Korean media is always there when Shin Tae Yong acts to train the national team in the field,” said Iriawan, quoted from Between.

In the news, it was stated that the recruitment of Shin Tae Yong by PSSI provided an advantage in the bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea. Because South Korea is a country whose culture is considered to be packaged into a global icon.

“So through Shin Tae Yong, we can learn to South Korea how to patent our cultural products to be better known,” said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule.

Iwan Bule said Indonesia and South Korea have similarities in cultural wealth. However, Indonesia is considered not yet able to have special rules in monetizing cultural wealth without violating norms.

“For example, if we have a soccer product in Tangerang, then we ask these Korean stars to play soccer using that product. Then the economic value of this product will be higher,” said Iwan Bule.
