The 27-year-old Collins became available after the Blue Jays assigned him for assignment on Monday.

The Blue Jays acquired him on April 3 in a trade that sent receiver Reese McGuire to the Chicago White Sox.

With the Toronto squad, Collins mostly played the role of third receiver behind star player Alejandro Kirk and Danny Jansen.

Collins is batting .194 with four homers in 72 major league appearances this season.

He also appeared in 36 games with the Buffalo Bisons, the Blue Jays’ AAA-level farm club. With the Bisons, his batting average was .195, with five home runs and 28 RBIs.
