The Persija Jakarta vs Madura United match became the venue for the release of Ismed Sofyan. The iconic Persija player got a special offering in this match.
Persija Jakarta hosted Madura United in the 10th week of Liga 1 2022 at Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, Saturday (17/9/2022). Many banners and attributes that smelled of Ismed Sofyan were displayed when the Kemayoran Tigers met Madura United.
Before the match, the Persija players also paid their respects to the legend. All Persija players wore the number 14 jersey during the team photo session.
Ismed himself attended this match directly with his wife and sat in the media stands. He watched the full match which ended in a 0-0 draw.
“Thank you Legend. The Legend is Named Ismed Sofyan,” read the words on the banner displayed by The Jakmania.
In particular, Jakmania also displayed a large jersey numbered 14 when the match entered the 14th minute. As is known, number 14 is identical to the player from Aceh.
Ismed did not react much to the offering from Jakmania. On the other hand, his wife looks proud while occasionally clapping her hands seeing Jakmania so appreciative of her husband.
Once the match was over, Ismed then entered the field to give a farewell sentence. “Ismed, Ismed,” shouted Jakmania welcoming his farewell.
Previously, Ismed had announced his departure from Persija as well as ending his 21-year togetherness. The closure of the opportunity to play is strongly suspected to be the reason the 43-year-old player terminated his contract.
Ismed came to Persija in 2002 or a year after Persija won the 2001 Indonesian League. He has long been a mainstay of Persija in his active period.
He began to be eliminated with the presence of other players, as he is now four years old. His last appearance was the final match of Persija against the host Kalteng Putra in the 2019 League 1.
