Patricio Camps’ lawsuit against Santa Fe advances: final verdict is approaching | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

It is one of those stories in which the ending lasts longer than the union itself. Patricio Camps and Independiente Santa Fe remained in expectation and now, it seems, is going for a long and tedious divorce, with lawyers involved who will write the last chapter.

The story is rather simple: the Argentine coach arrived under the administration of Juan Andrés Carreño and left shortly after, when Eduardo Méndez had assumed the presidency.

Things between the two were never smooth, but it mattered little because it was the poor results that condemned the coach. However, for the DT and his assistant, Martín Posse, what actually happened was an unjustified dismissal, which is why they went to FIFA to demand a millionaire compensation. In the first instance, said entity agreed with them and decided that the club would pay them an amount close to 1,000 million pesos.

To Santa Fe, the ruling does not seem fair and that is why the case ended up in the TAS, where progress was made in the last few hours. Both parties were heard by the juries of the case, testimonies were heard from both parties, on the one hand the remembered Pascual Lezcano, today manager of the Venezuelan National Team directed by José Pékerman, while on the other the goalkeeper Leandro Castellanos and the manager Agustín Julio.

The Bogota team insists that it is not obliged to pay because it was the Argentines who would have abandoned their positions. He is so sure of his arguments that he demands an amount close to 740 million pesos, plus the lawyers’ fees and the costs of the process in Switzerland, as compensation.

The arguments, then, have been heard in a hearing that lasted a little over four hours and after which, more or less towards the end of the year, there would be a final decision. Considering that the link between Camps and Santa Fe was in 2019, the end is already longer than the best part of the story…
