Panamanian athletes receive the national flag heading to the South American Games

The fencer Isaac Dorati received the national flag from the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of the Presidency José Gabriel Carrizo, on behalf of the athletes who will represent Panama at the XII South American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.

Dorati along with Emily Santos (Swimming) were chosen as flag bearers at a General Assembly of the Panama Olympic Committee (COP).

The South American Games will take place from October 1 to 15 in the city of Asunción, Paraguay. This multidisciplinary sporting event belongs to the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR) and takes place every 4 years.

“I wish you the best of luck with the conviction that you will give the best of yourselves and that you will raise the flag that flies on Cerro Ancón, the flag of Panama. Long live Panama and long live its athletes”, said Carrizo.

Panama will participate with a delegation of 86 athletes and 30 coaches to compete in 21 sports and 26 modalities, facing 15 countries.

Dorati pointed out that “we hope to give the best of each one of us and leave the flag of Panama high”.

Pandeportes ratified its commitment to national athletes and delivered an economic contribution of B/. 178,427.00 to the president of the COP Damaris Young, to support the athletes who will meet at the 2022 South American Games.

The sports where Panama will see action are: swimming, chess, athletics, badminton, 5×5 basketball, bowling, boxing, cycling, fencing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, golf, judo, karate, weightlifting, wrestling, taekwondo, table tennis , archery, sports shooting and triathlon.

Vice President Carrizo Jaén was accompanied by the general director of Pandeportes Héctor Brands, the president of the Panama Olympic Committee (COP) Damaris Young and some of the Panamanian athletes who will be participating in the South American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.
