OL and ASVEL want to “make the most beautiful room in Europe”

In front of many elected officials and representatives of the world of sport, in particular TJ Parker, ASVEL coach and tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the two men behind the project did not hide their pride in presenting what will become in their eyes”the most beautiful room in Europe, even in the world“.

It will be the most modern room in Europe, with the latest technologies to try to give pleasure to the spectators but also with an approach in terms of the environment and in terms of energy saving which will be emulated“, clarified Jean-Michel Aulas. “This project will bring ASVEL into a setting. There will be basketball matches but we will also be able to host major tennis tournaments, the biggest European and world concerts, e-sport events and many other activities in an environment that will be completely respected.“, continued the president of OL.

Because the Arena will want to be a reference in terms of urban planning, ecology and social integration, after a long work carried out jointly with the Metropolis of Lyon, chaired by the elected EELV Bruno Bernard. From an environmental point of view, the building will be equipped with 5,500 m² of photovoltaic panels to produce the maximum amount of resources while reducing expenses. Particular attention has also been paid to preserving biodiversity and all the former wasteland has been completely depolluted.

This new room also promises to be functional, with an annex room of 2000 m², backstages, VIP and PRM parking equipped with electrical terminals, dressing rooms and lounges. With a capacity of up to 16,000 people, the arena will offer a stand 22 meters high with a bird’s eye view, for “an incredible spectator experience“, assured Tony Parker.

We wanted to build one of the most beautiful halls in the world and we are succeeding. I hope it can take us into a new dimension, to find the roof of Europe. It will give us the means to grow and attract the best players and keep them.“, aims the president of ASVEL, happy to be able to propose, by the fall of 2023, “a real NBA room“.

Basketball will therefore be the reference sport of this arena, which can also switch to concert mode. From 2024, the LDLC Arena will be from 2024 “on the Live Nation Touring World Map” with the promise of seeing international artists and bands on stage.

What to live in the years which come from beautiful emotions as well sporting as cultural.
