Brian Brobbey, Joey Veerman, Kenneth Taylor, Andries Noppert and Pascal Struijk make their debut in the pre-selection of the Dutch national team. National coach Louis van Gaal hinted in May that he had not selected 20-year-old Brobbey so that he could play with the Dutch Juniors.
The most surprising name is that of Noppert. The 28-year-old goalie has only played 34 league games in his entire career so far. At sc Heerenveen he shows – just like at Go Ahead Eagles – that he is a reliable goalkeeper. The 23-year-old Struijk started like all five league matches at Leeds United as a left back.
