With the keepers and the goal wood in a leading role. Despite many chances, the city derby between Everton and Liverpool did not yield any goals. The Reds in particular lose expensive points in the title fight. Red Devil Amadou Onana played a strong match and was lucky that he escaped an intervention by Virgil van Dijk unscathed.

Liverpool’s revival only lasted a week. The vice-champion had a particularly poor start to the season, but recovered with successive wins against Bournemouth (9 goals) and Newcastle.

In the city derby against Everton, however, Jürgen Klopp’s team suffered another loss of points in a pleasant match.

Both teams hit the box in the first half. After the break, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford claimed a leading role with great saves on attempts by Firmino and Fabinho, among others.

In minute 70, Goodison Park then burst at the seams, as Conor Coady seemed to score the opening goal. The VAR ruined the party by noting offside.

In minute 95, Liverpool were still close to delirium. Only Salah saw his shot – via the protruding Pickford – burst against the post.

So another downer for Liverpool. The challenger of Manchester City is left behind with a particularly lackluster 9 out of 18 and is already waiting for a big catch-up race for the competition.
