Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has opened the door to having Teddy Bridgewater as the starting quarterback on Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals, replacing Tua Tagovailoa.
The 24-year-old quarterback has suffered ankle and back injuries that are causing him pain and stability issues.
With a matchup on Thursday, the Dolphins’ short week of preparation offers only a slim recovery period for Tagovailoa who may not be ready in time.
“It’s a complex situation, but luckily we can count on Teddy. If we had a normal week, Tagovailoa would be limited to training and a doubt for the match,” McDaniel mentioned.
The Dolphins are undefeated in three games this season. Tagovailoa has 925 yards and eight touchdowns so far.
