NFL Pools: Hunt for Khalil Herbert

football/nfl/story">

All fantasy football pundits agree: the top waiver target for week four is running back Khalil Herbert.

On the Yahoo! platform, the Chicago Bears color holder is available in 50% of the leagues. Last Sunday, he took advantage of David Montgomery’s leg injury to show what wood he is warming up.

Herbert had 157 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, in addition to catching two passes for 12 additional yards.

At this time, it is unknown how serious Montgomery’s injury is and if he will be able to play this week. That shouldn’t put a damper on Herbert’s popularity among poolers, however. The running back seems to fit better into the offensive patterns of the Bears, who will face the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and Washington Commanders over the next three weeks.

If Herbert slips through your fingers, here are some other options that should be available on waivers:

– Jamaal Williams, running back (available in 38% of Yahoo! leagues)

Since the start of the season, the Lions carrier has crossed the goal line four times, despite being second only to D’Andre Swift in Detroit.

However, he was injured on Sunday and could miss the next match, which would leave all the room for Jamaal Williams.

– Alexander Mattison, running back (available in 45% of Yahoo! leagues)

Dalvin Cook dislocated his shoulder last week but will likely be in the Vikings’ backfield on Sunday when they face the New Orleans Saints.

Never mind, Alexander Mattison is an attractive option because Cook will eventually fall back into action and the substitute still performs well when his number is called.

– Samaje Perine, running back (available in 94% of Yahoo! leagues)

The Cincinnati Bengals will have a short week playing the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.

Samaje Perine could see a little more ground than usual, if his club decides to protect Joe Mixon.

Here is also a player for all other offensive positions to target:

– Zach Wilson, quarterback (available in 94% of Yahoo! leagues)

Injured during training camp, the New York Jets quarterback could return to play soon.

The Big Apple club are set to have another losing season, but have already shown some interesting elements in attack. Zach Wilson should be able to take advantage and collect several points.

– Romeo Doubs, wide receiver (available in 73% of Yahoo! leagues)

Has Aaron Rodgers found his new favorite target in Romeo Doubs? It’s still too early to tell, but a pooler who takes this bet could be more than rewarded by the end of the campaign.

– Tyler Conklin, tight end (available in 78% of Yahoo! leagues)

For a second straight week, the Jets tight end is one of our suggestions.

This means that Tyler Conklin’s rating hasn’t gone down and isn’t expected to do so anytime soon. Last week he caught all eight throws sent his way for 84 yards.
