New record for points scored in a World Cup match, set by the United States.

The Americans’ walkover against Korea turned into a record match. Monday, in the Superdome of the Sydney Olympic Park), Team USA split 145 points for a landslide victory (69 points for the Koreans).

This is the new competition record for a team while the previous mark, established at the 1990 World Cup in Malaysia, was held by Brazil, who then beat the host country 143-50.

Against Korea, the United States finished with a collective rating of 216. Brionna Jones (24 points on 11 of 12, 8 rebounds) was the game’s top scorer, ahead of teammate A’Ja Wilson (20 points, 8 rebounds).
